Strategic Plan
The strategic plan for the community forest was recently updated through 2028. The steering committee’s vision is to maintain a healthy, resilient, and productive forest that emphasizes: collaborative decision making; responsible forest management including high visual quality and fire hazard reduction; consistent education, demonstration, and engagement opportunities; and accessible community and cultural use.

Objective 1: Collaborative decision making
- Manage the WCF with emphasis on community interests.
- Sustain the Steering Committee indefinitely.
- Ensure effective and efficient communication for collaborative interagency management.
Objective 2: Responsible forest management
- Resilience to wildfire, drought, insects and diseases
- High aesthetic quality

Objective 3: Consistent education, demonstration, and engagement opportunities
- Maintain and increase community interest and engagement with the WCF and its management.
- Educate people of all ages about local ecosystems and their management.
- Encourage youth to seek careers in land or resource management and enrich the local economy.
- Assist forest landowners and managers with sustainable forest management.
Objective 4: Accessible community and cultural use
- Accommodate the wide array of local cultures and lifestyles by providing access to forest-based experiences and special forest products.
Improve local tourism and residents’ quality of life by maintaining, improving accessibility of, and otherwise enhancing trails and campgrounds.
